Marine construction project to expand existing Pier 16 in Galveston Harbor to increase the capacity of the existing wharf for larger ships

This was a marine construction project to expand existing Pier 16 in Galveston Harbor to increase the capacity of the existing wharf for larger ships. Scope included expansion of an existing wharf through construction of a 600-foot-long, 40-foot-wide wharf extension.

Major work items included about 30,000 linear feet of concrete piling, 1,200 cubic yards of pier beam concrete, 14 new face fenders and 24,000 square feet of wharf deck. Webber precast the deck panels for the main wharf deck in the laydown yard saving schedule time and reducing overall cost to the Port of Galveston. Webber also cast in place the actual wharf deck. The project was completed on time with zero incidents during 25,000 man-hours worked.
