Our foundations: health and safety
We were the first company in our sector to obtain OSHAS 18001 certification, now ISO 45001: Occupational Health and Safety. Our commitment to Health & Safety has rewarded us throughout our history with excellent figures, numerous awards, and honors in this regard.
Siemsa’s history
Our journey began in 1982 in the Tarragona industrial park with assembly and maintenance work for electricity and instrumentation in the petrochemical sector.
In 1991, Siemsa was acquired by Gamesa, a leader in the renewable energy industry, and we became Gamesa Energía Servicios. We fully entered the world of renewable energies when we took over Gamesa’s renewable projects. However, we maintained our activity in the industrial world.
The incorporation of Uidiesa (Iberdrola) took place in 1996, marking our start in the nuclear energy sector. A decade later, in 2006, Siemsa was acquired by the European fund 3i Group, a leader in investment capital and venture capital.
Our journey at Ferrovial began in 2016, when Ferrovial Services acquired the company to strengthen its presence in the market for engineering, construction, installation, and maintenance services for equipment in the energy, petrochemical, and industrial sectors.
In 2021, Ferrovial Construcción absorbed Siemsa to build the substations and transmission lines division of its new Ferrovial Energy Solutions division. This decision continues to reinforce Ferrovial’s commitment to sustainability and consolidates its commitment to the energy transition. Our challenge is to bring to the sector our knowledge and experience in the construction, installation and maintenance of energy infrastructures.
